Unlike many private liberal arts colleges, York College of Pennsylvania’s emphasis is as much on professional development as it is on academics. The college is committed to preparing its students for the workforce. To help achieve this goal, the Center for Professional Excellence offers seminars for first-year students and upperclassmen alike. Of course, York is still a liberal arts college and offers a wide variety of academics. There are over 50 undergraduate concentrations, as well as a few master’s and doctoral programs. With a low student-to-faculty ratio, you can look forward to small class sizes and personalized instruction. As a private school, York College charges the same tuition rate for in-state and out-of-state residents alike. There are plenty of financial aid opportunities, so be sure to speak with an advisor to see if you qualify. Another highlight of York PA is its vibrant student life, which includes nearly 100 student organizations and about a dozen fraternities and sororities. York competes in NCAA Division III, and has 20 sports teams. The campus is also an hour drive from Baltimore, two hours outside of Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., and about a four-hour drive from New York City.
