UNIC's history is made up of remarkable moments and entrepreneurial actions in Higher Education, which makes it recognized as an institution of excellence. The University of Cuiabá was founded on April 19, 1988, being at the time the first private initiative college in the state of Mato Grosso. In these 23 years of work, UNIC has been making changes and pioneering many initiatives. One of them was the implantation of the pioneer Dentistry course in the State, as well as the courses of Pharmacy, Biochemistry, Physiotherapy, Psychology and more recently Gastronomy, Performing Arts, Interior Design, Fashion Design and many others. Every year thousands of young people enroll in the institution in pursuit of a dream come true: vocational training for the national job market. UNIC has also consolidated its image in carrying out social actions. The Mato Grosso society has been benefited by the services in the Physiotherapy, Psychology, Dentistry clinics, Clinical Analysis Laboratories, the General University Hospital, the São Francisco de Assis Nursery and the Legal Assistance Center - UNIJURIS. These projects are developed each year with the dedication of the entire academic community. Due to the initiative of Professor Altamiro Belo Galindo and Professor Célia Marilena Calvo Galindo, today the institution is one of the main sources of education for the economic and social development of Mato Grosso, training competent and ethical professionals. Over time, the University of Cuiabá finds even more reasons to make dreams come true.
