St. John's University

St. John’s University in Queens, New York promises an integrated education that nurtures students intellectually, socially, culturally and spiritually. Academics consist of more than 100 programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Offerings include such diverse majors as Administrative Studies, Communication Arts, Dramatic Arts, Environmental Studies, Film and Television, Funeral Service Administration, Law, Liberal Studies, Pharmaceutical Science, Photojournalism, Sociology, Speech Language Pathology and Theology. Since it is a Catholic school that embodies the Catholic mission of charity and service, students at St. John’s participate in a variety of community service activities. Included among these are serving at the school’s soup kitchen and providing other types of volunteer service. Spiritual activities include a campus ministry and religious services. Student life also allows for recreation and extracurricular interests. Special interest, media, cultural, political and Greek organizations provide opportunities for students to get involved while meeting others with similar interests. Since it is in close proximity to New York City, there are numerous other opportunities for cultural, shopping and nightlife experiences. St. John’s has a rolling admissions policy. Fairly competitive in their selection process when evaluating students, St. John’s looks at the student’s grade point average and standardized test scores among other things. Financial aid is available to qualifying students and may include loans, grants and/or other sources.
