Sonelgaz is the historical operator in the field of supply of electric and gas energies in Algeria. Thanks to the enactment of the law on electricity and piped gas distribution, Sonelgaz went from a vertically integrated company to a holding company managing a multi-company and multi-business industrial group. Sonelgaz has always played a major role in the economic and social development of the country. Its contribution to the realization of the national energy policy is commensurate with the major programs carried out in rural electrification and public gas distribution; This raised the electricity coverage rate to 99.4% and the gas penetration rate to 62%. Today, the Sonelgaz Group is made up of 16 companies directly controlled by the Holding, 18 joint ventures with Group entities and 10 joint ventures with third parties.
