Southwestern College

Southwestern College in Chula Vista, California, is one of the only public community colleges in southern San Diego. Southwestern provides residents of South County with the education and preparation needed to enroll in a four-year program. Academics at the school include more than 310 associate’s degree and certificate program options, including concentrations like Architecture, Emergency Medical Technology, Pharmaceutical and Laboratory Science, Photography and Digital Imaging. The school also offers study abroad opportunities. A wide variety of student clubs and organizations are available, from the Hip Hop Nation to the Student Paralegal Association to the Belegarth Medieval Combat Society. You can also join honor societies like Phi Theta Kappa or Psi Beta. The campus provides many opportunities for an exciting student life, including student art exhibits, chamber singers, jazz ensembles, theatre performances. Admissions are open, allowing any student with a high school diploma or GED the opportunity to attend as long as an online application is completed. Students who complete a FAFSA application may be eligible to receive financial aid through the forms of state aid like the Cal grant, federal grants, subsidized and unsubsidized loans and institutional scholarships. Students seeking scholarships from the school must fill out the scholarship application anytime from early January to mid March.
