Populous provides design services for sports facilities. It offers design services, including sports architecture, conference and exhibition center architecture, special events overlay and bids, environmental branding and graphics, events planning and overlay, master planning, sustainable design consulting, as well as facility operations, evaluation, and analysis. Populous also provides planning services, including site selection, site design, district plans, landscape plans, and design guidelines; and interiors design services, including master planning, strategic planning, brand development, and space needs analysis and planning. Its project portfolio includes aquatic, athletics/track and field, Australian football league, baseball, basketball, collegiate, convention and exhibition centers, cricket, event bids and overlay, football (American), football (soccer), fairgrounds and equestrian centers, horse racing, ice hockey, motor racing, rugby, speed skating, and tennis sports. Jerry Anderson founded Hok Sports Facilities in 1983 that became Populous in January 2009, with its headquarters in Kansas City in Missouri with additional offices in Boston, San Francisco, New York, and Pittsburgh. It is a former subsidiary of Hellmuth, Obata + Kassabaum.
