CFEngine, the inventor of infrastructure-as-code, allows users, in code using the domain specific language (DSL) of CFEngine, to define desired states of their IT infrastructure. Lightweight CFEngine agents continuously ensures that the actual states are converging toward the desired states, and reporting desired and actual states.
