New Oriental Education & Technology Group provides a comprehensive range of educational services and products to address the needs of students of all ages. New Oriental operates in five segments: language training and test preparation courses, primary and secondary school education, content development and distribution, online education, and overseas studies consulting. The company offers a variety of educational programs, services, and products that include English and other foreign language training programs; test preparation courses for admissions and assessment tests in the United States, China, and Commonwealth countries; primary and secondary school educational services; development and distribution of educational content; software and other technologies; and online educational programs. As of May 31, 2013, the company offered educational programs, services, and products to students through a network of 57 schools and 669 learning centers, approximately 32 own and 5,000 third-party bookstores in 50 cities. New Oriental Education & Technology Group was established in 1993 in Beijing, China. It went public on the New York Stock Exchange on September 7, 1996, becoming the first Chinese education company to go public in the U.S.
