TRAINING THE NEXT GENERATION OF AUDIO PROS SINCE 1987 Musitechnic was founded in 1987 by Gilles Valiquette, a well-known musician, composer, songwriter and singer in Montreal. He was confident that technology would become the central part of the music production and industry to the point of creating the first Quebec Ministry recognized diploma entirely dedicated to computer-assisted sound design. That was way before everybody knew what a computer mouse, an MP3 or the internet was. That pioneer vision and experience define Musitechnic’s DNA. At Musitechnic we believe that practice is a fundamental step in learning, this is why most of our classes are conducted in studio or in front of a computer. In addition, we encourage our students to make use of our studios in their free time in order to practice and work on their homework and personal projects. Our 3 analogue studios, 5 digital studios and our live venue allow our students to work in various environments during the school year. The analogue studios include booths for sound recording (drums, bass, guitar, vocals, etc.) and are fully equipped (consoles, effect racks, patch bays, etc.). Access to our live venue and our 8 studios free of charge six days a week. As of the second session, our students have the opportunity to be integrated in professional activities. Each student is free to choose his/her internships and model their resume according to his/her objectives. Our partnerships allow us to diversify the experience, increase the opportunities and help put into practice the knowledge acquired in class. You could help out at a festival, work on a web series, contribute to the development of a video game or compose a soundtrack for a show. We cover every branch of the audio industry in our practical and theoretical classes. All our students have different objectives. Our goal is to give everyone a solid foundation while meeting specific expectations. Wether you want to work in a studio, work as a freelancer or do live sounds for bands on tour, our team will be able to guide you in making your choice among a multitude of professions.
