Residents of San Bernardino and Riverside counties looking to do more than take classes should consider Mt. San Jacinto College. A two-year school located in the Southern California high desert, Mt. San Jacinto College offers many opportunities for students to learn and grow beyond the classroom. The degree and certificate offerings at Mt. San Jacinto encompass academics in the arts, humanities, sciences, business and technical fields. However, it is the opportunities to solidify and expand on what's learned in class that distinguishes Mt. San Jacinto. The College Hour is one of the unique ways that Mt. San Jacinto helps students to expand and build on classroom learning. Held once a week for one hour, The College Hour is an opportunity for students and faculty to exchange ideas. Students ask career-related questions, and engage with faculty in discussions about everything from academics to current events. The Puente Project is another program which gives students the chance to stretch beyond the classroom in their academic and personal growth. This statewide, two-semester program helps Latino/Latina students to adjust to college life and transfer to four-year schools through statewide conferences and one-on-one mentoring. The extracurricular offerings at Mt. San Jacinto help students to stretch themselves creatively, intellectually and personally in their college life while also gaining experience with a potential career. The Eagle Radio Network, an art gallery and a student film festival are some examples of these offerings. Mt. San Jacinto's career development department also works to blend classroom learning with out-of-class activities. In addition to traditional career counseling they offer academic courses in career selection and development. Mt. San Jacinto financial aid offerings include loans, grants, work-study and scholarships for eligible students who need assistance with tuition.
