Mississippi Valley State University

Located in Itta Benna, Mississippi, Mississippi Valley State University is a historically black four-year college that offers an equal number of academic and professional programs. Mississippi Valley State University is an HBCU. Academics in MVSU’s arts and sciences department feature such subject areas as social sciences, fine and performing arts, math, natural sciences and literature and languages. Equally balanced with professional studies, MVSU also offers teacher education as well as degrees in social work, business, criminal justice and ROTC. Graduate programs are also offered in business administration, environmental health, public policy and several other fields. Campus life provides a sufficient number of extracurricular and cultural activities, with religious, professional, music and theatre organizations as well as a student government association and school newspaper. Admissions requirements include submission of transcripts and ACT or SAT scores. Tuition is substantially lower for Mississippi state residents and need and merit-based financial aid is available to those who qualify.
