Creative, interdisciplinary, hands-on and innovative are some of the words that one might use to describe an undergraduate or graduate education at the small, private college of Lesley University in Boston, Massachusetts. The first school to offer a degree in Expressive Arts Therapy, Lesley has come up with unique majors that blend the creative arts and other fields. Another example of this is its Creative Writing MFA, which combines different genres of writing as well as other disciplines. Other graduate degrees are equally innovative and feature such degree titles as Ecological Teaching and Intercultural Relations. There is also a self-designed master’s degree program in addition to a more traditional program in Counseling Psychology. Traditional programs in such fields as Drama, Communications, Counseling, Music and Social Work are also available. Lesley also offers a substantial number of online and low-residency degrees. Another way that Lesley differentiates itself is with its highly flexible and partly self-designed adult-degrees offered in such fields as Art History, Business, Education, Psychology and Holistic Psychology. Students at Lesley also spend a substantial amount of time working in relevant internships at organizations and companies in nearby Boston. Performing and Media Arts organizations and cultural, religious and service clubs are some of the student life activities available on the Lesley campus.
