In addition to offering collaborative and progressive Liberal Arts programming, Lake Erie College has one of the most respected Equine Studies programs in the country. Located in Painesville, Ohio, about thirty minutes from downtown Cincinnati, Lake Erie’s scenic location, with its easy access to the city, is ideal. Lake Erie is one of a few schools in the country that houses Learning Communities, which allow students to engage in interdisciplinary studies. For example, the Arts and Humanities learning community gives students the chance to examine disciplines within this field, usually in the context of a theme. Not only that, but these communities promote collaborative learning as well. Additional majors available at Lake Erie include Business, Education, Foreign Languages and the Natural and Social Sciences. Students from all over the country actually relocate to attend Lake Erie’s Equine Studies program. Within that major students may study Equestrian Facility Management and Equestrian Teacher Training. Since an equestrian center is located only a few miles from campus, students may also expand their experience and study beyond the classroom. Academic, Cultural, Special Interest and other student clubs and organizations are all part of the student life experience beyond the classroom. Students interested in gaining admission will need to submit an application, transcripts, test scores and recommendation letters. Students may also apply for financial aid to help with tuition costs.
