Christ is at the center of student life at HBU, and nowhere is this more evident than the school’s “Community Life & Worship” requirement. All Houston Baptist University students must take 80 credits of CLW per semester. These credits can be fulfilled in a variety of ways, from mission trips and internships to student ministries and bible study groups. The school balances this spiritual life with intellectual development. Houston Baptist’s academics include more than 40 bachelor’s and master’s degree programs. The school offers more traditional academic subjects like English and Philosophy, as well as programs in Christianity, Theological Studies and more. Small, discussion-based courses ensure individualized attention in the classroom. HBU also has a number of pre-professional undergraduate programs. One of these, which adds a teacher certification to your undergraduate degree, can be applied to a master’s degree in Education at Houston Baptist. Several financial aid opportunities are available at Houston Baptist University. The school participates in federal grant, loan and work-study programs, all of which are need-based. Houston Baptist also awards various merit and departmental scholarships to undergraduates and graduates.
