GTS offers graduate-level master’s and doctoral degrees in: * Divinity * Sacred Theology * Theology GTS also operates the Center for Spiritual Direction. Here, one may earn a certificate or master’s degree in Spiritual Direction or Spiritual Guidance for Children. Through these programs, students learn how to help others define their identity in the context of Christian spirituality. Many master’s degree students simultaneously earn this certification in order to enhance their ministerial practice. GTS’ sense of community is probably its most distinctive feature. GTS fosters closeness between students and faculty through various college life activities, which include morning and evening prayer services and community meals. GTS hosts academic and spiritual lectures and participates in international theological seminars, as well. Since GTS is located in the heart of New York City, students also have access to numerous spiritual, religious, cultural and recreational activities. Degree applicants must have a bachelor’s degree. Materials required for admissions include transcripts, an admissions application, an autobiographical essay and four letters of recommendation. Applicants will also need to interview with the seminary’s faculty or staff. GTS offers federal financial aid packages, which consist of loans, grants, work-study or a combination of these. GTS also offers several scholarships, including the Bishop Hamilton H. Kellogg Scholarship, which covers the majority of tuition costs. All of these awards are given to students who qualify.
