Galen College of Nursing in Louisville, Kentucky, is one of the largest private nursing colleges in the country. Galen College offers a variety of educational programs, including bridge programs for practicing nurses. They also offer different scheduling options. Galen awards an associate’s degree in Registered Nursing and one in Practical Nursing. Students take classes in medical theory and science. In addition to academics, nursing programs teach lab and clinical skills. Students also undertake clinical assignments with actual patients. Those who are already licensed practical nurses may enroll in the LPN-to-RN Bridge program. This full-time program takes 15 to 18 months to complete. Students may also attend during the daytime or in the evening. The Galen College of Nursing is large. However, classes are small so that students may get more opportunities to work and interact with faculty. Galen College’s class sessions begin at several times throughout the year. Prospective students are encouraged to first visit one of the school’s open house events. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED and be proficient in English. They will also need to complete an admissions application and either submit ACT or SAT scores or take the Pre RN exam. Galen College of Nursing offers federal grants and loans to qualifying students. To apply for financial aid applicants will need to complete the FAFSA.
