Federal Reserve Bank is a regional bank of the central banking system in the United States. There are twelve branches in total, one for each of the Federal Reserve Districts. These are: Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, Federal Reserve Bank of New York, Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, and Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. The duties of the Federal Reserve System includes providing the government with a ready source of loans; serve as a safe depository for federal monies; act as a mechanism for meeting payments on the national debt and government salaries; and oversee banking and financial systems. The headquarters of the whole Federal Reserve System is located in Washington, D.C.
