Fashion Institute Of Technology

The Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, New York, is an internationally renowned school for design, fashion, business, art and communications. The school offers a rigorous liberal arts curriculum with plenty of hands-on application. Students may take advantage of the school’s direct connection to New York City and its cultural and entertainment opportunities. Numerous cafes, art galleries, boutiques, theatres, museums and restaurants are available just outside the school. More than 60 student clubs, leadership programs and community service opportunities make for an active and enriching student life. Students may join a recreational group like the Comic Book Club, the Phi Theta Kappa honor society or volunteer to give assistance to the fashion industry and community. The school maintains a strong relationship with industry leaders, allowing students to gain easy access to a dynamic worldwide network. Academics include a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs. Some undergraduate fields of study include Advertising and Marketing, Fashion and Related Industries and Textile/Surface Design. Graduate students may enroll in programs like Illustration, Exhibition Design and Global Fashion Management. Admissions require students to complete a SUNY application. These are available online through the SUNY Application Services Center. An official high school transcript or GED and personal essay must also be sent. Art and Design applicants must also submit a portfolio. Tuition is set lower for New York residents. Students who file a FAFSA may be eligible to receive financial aid through scholarships, federal grants, student loans and work study programs.
