Edgewood College

While Edgewood College in Madison, Wisconsin, may be small, there is no shortage of academic, professional, personal enrichment and cultural opportunities. There are also special programs, including one designed for learning disabled students. In recent years some of Edgewood’s students have taken a semester or year to study abroad in such countries as Argentina, England, Finland, Ireland, Malta, New Zealand and Sweden. Since Edgewood sponsors study abroad programs in more than 42 countries, there are plenty more to choose from as well. For students looking to expand professional opportunities, Edgewood also provides access to a number of internships in different fields of study. Academically Edgewood grants degrees in more than 60 majors including Anthropology, Art Therapy, Business, Counseling Psychology, Cytotechnology, Education, Graphic Design, Music, Religious Studies and Sociology. Edgewood’s “Cutting Edge” program was recently instituted as well, providing learning-disabled students with the opportunity to obtain a degree. A student literary magazine and newspaper, student government, and a branch of Habitat for Humanity are some of the campus organizations that enhance the student life experience. Since it is a Dominican Catholic college, Edgewood has its share of religious activities as well. Admission to Edgewood’s traditional programs is somewhat competitive, with many accepted applicants having an above average GPA. Financial aid is available to those who qualify.
