East Mississippi Community College

East Mississippi Community College (EMCC) in Scooba, Mississippi offers training in an assortment of technical and medical careers, as well as job-based learning opportunities. Academics at EMCC include associate’s degrees, diplomas and certificates as well as continuing and adult education options. Degrees and certifications are offered in such fields as Nursing, Carpentry, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Finance, Cosmetology, Emergency Medical Services, Forestry, Funeral Services and Welding. One of EMCC’s more unique features is the Work-Based Learning (WBL) program. Through partnerships with local businesses, students in this program gain work experience in their field of study while enrolled in school. In addition to providing an opportunity to test a career, students also get input from employers, a chance to network not to mention work experience. For students who wish to pursue a four-year degree, EMCC also has state university transfer options, some of which may include scholarships.
