Centre for Arts and Technology is a British Columbia based post-secondary school that offers a wide variety of advanced diploma, diploma and certificate programs in nearly 20 creative disciplines, including digital film, interior design, animation, graphic design, digital photography, and audio engineering. Centre for Arts and Technology operates two state-of-the-art educational campuses in the cities of Kelowna and Surrey. Each campus works with top industry talent from British Columbia and beyond, delivering first-rate classroom instruction, mentorship, and practical guidance to students in every CAT program. Leveraging deep connections to the local, national, and international creative industries, CAT provides students with a wealth of opportunities to pursue real-world internships and projects with top employers throughout North America. With more than 20,000 square feet of learning spaces, Centre for Arts and Technology’s flagship Kelowna campus features two audio recording studios, a digital photography and digital filmmaking studio, an interior design lab, dedicated animation labs, an art room, and much more. The filmmaking studio is unparalleled in central British Columbia, featuring a green screen station and incorporating extensive digital media, visual effects, digital video, and motion graphics technologies. On-campus student lounges complement a vibrant college town environment — featuring restaurants, coffee shops, exercise facilities, and other urban amenities — just outside the school’s door. Though smaller, the Surrey campus has ample resources for Vancouver-area commuter students, many of whom work part- or full-time while pursuing their creative degrees. Surrey’s in-house infrastructure includes an animation lab, art room, dedicated Mac lab and a state-of-the-art photography studio. Prospective students interested in attending classes at either campus can participate in CAT’s “Be a Student for a Day” program. “Students for a Day” may audit classes of their choosing, subject to availability. Centre for Arts and Technology’s class sizes range from 6 to 21 students, ensuring ample faculty attention and opportunities for semi-private instruction in smaller classes. CAT staff and faculty are fluent in both Mac and PC — “We speak both Mac and PC and so will you,” is a core CAT value. Meanwhile, CAT’s professional development team ensures that students have ample opportunities to pursue internships and externships to gain real-world experience before graduation, and to seamlessly navigate the transition from school to the workplace when the time comes. A robust and growing alumni network opens doors for current students and recent graduates alike.
