Augusta State University is a public institution founded in 1785 as the Academy of Richmond County. As the oldest postsecondary institution in the state of Georgia, ASU maintains its rich heritage while providing a modern educational experience. ASU’s academics include over 50 concentrations. The university offers associate’s, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees in a variety of subjects. Several pre-professional programs are available, including medical, dental, veterinary and pharmacy. Additionally, ASU collaborates with Georgia Southern University to offer a doctorate in Education. For adults looking to further their education, several continuing education programs are available at Augusta State. Many of these programs are for careers in health care, but ASU also offers courses for test prep, language skills, and personal enrichment. The university has recently launched a two-year personal trainer certificate program, as well. Augusta State provides extensive financial aid to help fund the education of eligible students. Its many scholarships are based on a variety of criteria, including merit, need, and talent in a specialized area. To apply for institutional scholarships (and to renew current awards), you must submit the ASU Electronic Academic Scholarship Application. Students can also apply for state and federal aid programs, like the HOPE and Zell Miller Scholarships.
