The Australasian Railway Association (ARA) is a not-for-profit member-based association that represents passenger, freight, track, manufacturing, construction, supply and other rail companies in Australasia. My role was responsible for delivering beneficial workforce development outcomes for the rail industry on a national basis, in line with the strategic objectives of the business. I achieved this through leading and facilitating a broad range of stakeholders ensuring their engagement and collaboration to support significant activities and initiatives. The role required high level communication, negotiation, coordination, networking, budget management and project management. I developed and mentored staff and was involved in senior executive strategic development and management processes and reporting to the board. I was regularly required to deliver presentations in industry, public and government forums, as well as performing a facilitator role at workshops, courses and events.

I employ strategies in managing QBT’s contractual relationship with federal and state governments and ensure the delivery of agreed services is fulfilled. This includes providing strategic direction and support to the Account Management team to deliver the highest standard or customer service to clients. I also prepare reports and budgets, perform human resource management, communication activities and achieve performance targets. Part of my responsibilities is to establish strong communication and holistic relationships with all internal and external stakeholders to maintain confidence and trust to the organisation and its guaranteed service; and, comply with legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation to enforce adherence to requirements and advise management on required actions.
