This endeavor consisted of a fully digital (app-based) uncollateralized personal nano-credit service. Our main vision was to use my machine learning experience to combine behavioral data with traditional bureau data in order to build credit models that outperformed the market.As part of this project, I was responsible for: * Raising money with family and friends * Hiring a top notch technology and product team * Laying out the vision for our product * Devising a data collection and modeling strategy * Delivering on an Android app that enabled clients to make credit applicationsWe received more than 70k loan applications (from 100k downloads) out of which we originated credit to approximately 400 clients. Unfortunately, we found out (the hard way) that VCs and funds, at that moment, had no appetite for this kind of business (due mostly to underperforming benchmarks). Among other things, we reached the conclusion that we wouldn't have the necessary resources to deliver on our vision and decided to pull the plug on this project.

Helping the company structure its Big Data and Data Science initiatives.

Successfully delivered machine learning models for most of the areas of the company (e.g.: fraud, churn prevention, pricing optimization, collections, legal, etc) that had a significant (and material) impact to the company's EBITDA.After leading Nextel's first wave of BI centralization in 2019, I handed it over and took ownership of a marketing business area (monetization strategies), with the goal of accelerating the delivery of all machine learning models that had begun development in the previous year.

I led Nextel's initiative of centralizing all the company's Business Intelligence efforts, which were, then, distributed and not standardized, creating its Business Intelligence Competency Center. This work involved leveraging our Big Data tools to centralize and standardize the company's indicators, eliminating duplicate work and making information more readily accessible.Additionally, after demonstrating the potential benefits Machine Learning could bring to the company's results in the previous year, we decided to scale our Machine Learning efforts to all areas of the company. As a result, we conducted an extensive mapping of all business areas where it could bring significant impacts and begun their implementation.

My goal as Nextel's Head of Advanced Analytics was to kick start the company's Data Science and Big Data efforts. I hired a team of data scientists and engineers from scratch and spoke with the company's main stakeholders to map and prioritize opportunities that would maximize business value. Throughout the year of 2017 we improved our Big Data tooling and focused our Data Science efforts into creating predictive models for churn prevention and fraud detection.

At Jusbrasil I had the opportunity of putting to use most skills (both technical and soft) that I acquired throughout my professional and academic life. I took on multiple roles, such as helping the CEOs make strategic decisions, taking part in board meetings, fundraising and doing technical work as a lead developer. I led, since its inception, the evolution of Jusbrasil PRO, the product that became the company’s main source of revenue. The goal of Jusbrasil PRO is to connect people and lawyers through legal information. Throughout its development, I took part in making strategic business decisions, in the evolution of the product and in guiding its technical development. At Jusbrasil PRO we had the opportunity to deliver machine learning models that had a direct impact in our revenue, such as improvements to the conversion rates of our forms (approx. +8%) and optimizations that accelerated the growth of upsells. As a Lead Software Development Engineer, I was responsible for inspiring and guiding our developers into writing great software. I helped maintain a hacking culture within the company and I fostered the creation of a heterogeneous micro-services development environment where developers received the proper stimulus to work with the technologies they loved. I also led the Engineering Excellence team, responsible for improving our overall developer productivity. As part of this team, I envisioned and led the development of a test platform built on top of Jenkins, which enabled multiple developers to run test passes in parallel by dynamically instantiating machines on an IaaS provider. This platform significantly improved our developer efficiency by reducing time spent re-running tests and helping our developers in easily identifying regressions.

As a Software Developer Engineer in Test II at Microsoft, I have worked with a wide range of technologies and programming languages, focused on development for mobile devices and services.At the Exchange Mobile Client Team, I was responsible for building client side automation that was used for guaranteeing the quality of key Windows Phone Outlook Mobile features and making sure our product was correctly localized. Afterwards, I moved on to developing and shipping calendaring features on the mobile website, desktop and iOS versions of Outlook Web App.I was one of the core developers that built the test framework mainly used for testing Outlook Web App for iOS, which was built on top of a hybrid Cordova-like development framework. The development of this test framework required great knowledge of iOS' native development tools and gave me experience on how a hybrid cordova-like framework works.On the server-side, I built the monitoring, performance and scalability infrastructure of Exchange's Push Notification Service, leveraging Microsoft's private big-data framework (hadoop-like) to process a high-volume of data collected from all mobile devices connected to Exchange Server on Office 365. Our monitoring solution guaranteed that our service was healthy across Exchange's datacenter. Through the Perf & Scalability work I gave our managers confidence that our service was ready for reaching web-scale.Besides that, I helped drive Exchange's Globalization team, helping organize bug bashes, overseeing our localized test-passes and pushing our co-workers into dogfooding Outlook Web App using different locales.

Our main focus was to develop solutions for lawyer offices. We have successfully shipped products used for managing small/medium and large lawyer offices, allowing them to track tasks, lawsuits and clients. On top of that, we built an optimizer used for helping large organizations find the cheapest way to allocate lawyers to daily tasks (e.g.: attending hearings and running office errands), taking into consideration each lawyer's schedule and the geographic location of each task. As CTO, my main duty at Highlevel-IT was to provide guidance to our development team, regarding which tools/processes to use. Additionally, as a co-founder, I also helped my other partners make key strategic decisions.

Development of a flight simulator, including programming its user interface, its graphics (using OpenGL and OpenSceneGraph) and physics simulations.

Development of a Presence Management solution using Eclipse RCP and Java.Project required great teamwork and speech abilities. At the end of it, a presentation to the high staff, including company president in Brazil Rogério Oliveira, was held in the main auditorium.

Internship focused on Software Engineering applied to Borland ALM Suite.Each Intern had the goal of analyzing Borland tools in terms of the most known software development processes, like CMMI, Extreme Programming and RUP.
