This role requires me to apply a "systems engineering" approach to an important area of plant to ensure the successful running of operations. A fundamental part of the role is to increase reliability and decrease down time of the system. This is achieved by a number of system engineering methods such as regular plant walk downs, system health reports, asset management and conditioning along with fault trending and keeping on top of obsolescence issues which could affect plant operation.

* Two year graduate scheme accredited by the IET. * The 2 years were split over a number of secondments, aimed at developing a wide range of skills and knowledge across the Nuclear industry. The secondments were as follows: * Sellafield Mox Plant (SMP) Sellafield * Fuel Manufcaturing plant * Atkins (Bristol) * Short consultancy secondment working on project bids and having input into an * FMEA * Berkeley Nuclear Power Station (Magnox) * Charged with decomissioning level indication system * on active tanks including electrical isolation , disconnection and removal of equipment. * Sellafield Ltd, Waste Encapsulation Plant * Working in the Waste Encapsulation Plant in Sellafield * charged with solving daily technical problems on plant along with person organising work role * POW) undertaking long term projects, creating work packs and writing full technical specs for * engineers on plant along with technical advice.

Nuclear New Build Project: Working on a Nuclear New Build project in London, tasked with taking a "System Lead" role in ensuring a current French EPR design meets British regulations and design standards with the aim of using the design at Hinkley Point C (HPC). Writing system design manuals to include design changes for HPC. Previous projects Tasked with assessing the current Control & Protection system within a significant facility within HMNB Clyde with the aim of improving the current system/ recommending further options to the MOD. Work is being delivered through a detailed technical report.

* Part of the Power,Process & Nuclear Division at Mott MacDonald, currently working on the FNI CAP project at HMNB Clyde. Taking a lead role in * Addressing a number of required modifications and carrying out work on the life extension of * the current infrastructure at the base. * A significant deliverable is modifying the current control and protection system to bring it up to * current standards while addressing obsolescence and operational issues, applying my * technical knowledge of C&I and safety systems. * Taking a lead role in requirements capture with the aim of writing a fully justified user * requirement specification for a vendor to be able to establish a conceptual design based on * my design reports * After detail design approval I will manage the modifications through procurement, testing, * installation and commissioning.
