As a Community School Nurse we work closely with the child and young person, their families, friends and carers and play an important contribution in how people experience our services. As a Community School Nurse I am kind and responsive but professional and informative and contribute to the quality of the services we provide.In my role I ensure I keep the people who using our services as safe as possible through the use of sound clinical skills and effective risk assessmentsensuring the best possible clinical outcomes by using up-to-date skills and adhering to evidence based policies and procedures. As well as ensuring the people using our services have a good experience by respecting, empowering and working in partnership with people throughout the care planning process.As a Community School Nurse my key roles and responsibilities are: Health assessmentsHealth advice and supportHealth awareness and healthy lifestyle workshopsEmotional, mental health and wellbeing adviceWeight management advice and supportManaging caseloads of allocated schoolsSupporting the team and student nurses

I worked in a long-term intensive care unit. Worked alongside professionals to care and support children with complex care needs. This included long term ventilatory support, within a child-friendly setting.

Started as a junior member of the paediatric nursing team and progressed to a senior member of the paediatric nursing team. I worked with infants, children and young people in an inpatient ward with simple to complex medical needs.
