Baim is a Clinical Research Organization (CRO). They manage FDA compliant clinical trials of medical devices and drugs. My role was to create and manage the data warehouse and business intelligence system. I had 2 direct reports that were development and system administrator staff and 6 departmental report administrators. • Architected a new data warehouse and business intelligence system based on the MS Power BI stack.• Taught IT staff how to extract data from disparate systems and load the data warehouse using Microsoft SSIS and SQL Server job scheduling. Extracted data came from financial systems (Dynamics SL 2015, Dynamics SL 2011), sales or CRM systems (Salesforce), application systems (Oracle Inform, CLINTRIAL, IBM eClinical), SharePoint based systems (Bioclinica CTMS, OnPoint), and file-based systems (Excel).• Daily extracts would be transformed into useful data made available by data marts for just in time reporting.• Implemented and upgraded departmental SharePoint 2013 sites to leverage new document libraries, workflows, and lists. Excel PowerPivot enabled reports were then centrally published and automatically refreshed daily from the data marts using SharePoint Excel Services.• Trained report administrators to create new Excel PowerPivot reports as needed.• Implemented Master Data Management techniques to gain consistent results across numerous reports.• Developed 6 SharePoint 2013 applications and 1 Excel (2010, 2013) application to gather data when critical data was unobtainable due to the lack of electronic systems or formal business processes.

Health Dialog provided analytics and cost saving programs to insurance and self-insured companies. This dual role was a client relationship responsibility. As the Global Data Warehouse manager, I worked with, and advocated for, international clients in Australia, the UK, France and Spain. This included devising strategy and project management for implementation and support of Health Dialog software products. As a Senior Data Architect this was a cross functional team role continually improving and maintaining database modeling and master data management.• Hosted weekly international conference calls using WebEx. • Followed through with appropriate US teams for confirmation of resolution or action needed.• Participated as a Data Steward in master data management meetings. Analyzed data cleansing and data quality processes to identify redundant and non-synchronized processes for remediation. Used PL/SQL Developer for code analysis and Erwin for data modeling.• Investigated and informed diverse groups about source systems, data warehouse, and reporting systems to understand benefits and impacts of shared data. Used MS Office Suite and Erwin for communication.• Rescued a 2 year long incomplete project and put it into production in less than 3 months, saving $3MM from being written off as a total loss. Used Erwin for data modeling, PL/SQL Developer for coding and MS Office suite for communication with virtual team.

Continued as technical lead for EU data warehouse.• Increased overall IT morale, customer service, business capability, data quality, and security using best practices, obtaining ISO 27001 auditor certification and sound management techniques.• Significantly reduced capital spending by consolidating databases, optimizing storage, and leveraging use of virtual servers. Was able to trim 65% off of the capital budget by switching from RAID 1+0 to RAID 5 in a SAME (stripe and mirror everything) environment.• Managed the creation of separate development and testing environments through the use of re-purposed servers. The systems separation reduced competing with resources on the production systems, resulting in higher throughput speed and increased system availability. Documented new environments with MS Office Suite and Erwin.• Maintained responsibilities for EU Data Warehouse. Budgeted, designed, coded, implemented, and operated EU data warehouses across three different countries. Managed two database administrators and one warehouse developers. I was the technical lead. • Redesigned the warehouse for high flexibility loading and transformation with consistent quality analysis reporting. This was to effectively meet challenges presented by inconsistent, unreliable, dirty data feeds and unannounced specification changes from clients. Coded in PL/SQL using PL/SQL Developer software and Vault change control system. Data models where designed and documented in Excel and Erwin.• Initiated Meta Data Management into the company by introducing new operational processes. Facilitated successful adoption of MDM by conducting standing cross functional team meetings. Used MS Office Suite and Erwin for communicating data models and system processes.• By accomplishing the above two bullets, we then onboarded our French client, Spanish client, and 6 existing UK clients all within 1 year into the new data warehouse. The Spanish client’s data was onboarded within 4 weeks. The warehouse successfully supported 4 different insurance data models from 3 countries. It stored up to 5 years of data on more than 50mm patients within a data footprint of 4TB. This was all accomplished using a single code base. Data was transferred by sFTP or by encrypted transportable hard drive as appropriate.• Traveled to client sites and attended weekly teleconference meetings with clients in France and Spain for implementation and maintenance of ongoing operations along with knowledge transfer to clients. Used WebEx for teleconferencing.

Collaborated on initial design and coding work of data warehouse and Smart Registry application.• Implemented new functionality and supported production of health care data consisting of 15M patients’ data for up to 5 year ranges with a 7 TB data footprint.• Requested to develop UK warehouse in 2007 due to extensive expertise in coding US data warehouse and consistency in providing high coding output.

Performed design, loading and administration for 3 warehouses of Medicaid and Medicare information. Provided backup support for 3 additional warehouses. Involved in hardware selection and implementation. Assisted in creation of disaster recovery site while minimizing costs. Gained first hand experience in use of Solaris operating system and script writng in Bourne shell. Attained Oracle 9i OCP certification level.
