During my placement I interviewed clients, drafted advices and letters, researched whether recommendations had been implemented following the Coronial Inquest into the deaths of Leanne Goodall, Amanda Robinson, and Robyn Hickie, prepared Freedom of Information requests, researched legislation, case law, and secondary sources (domestic and international jurisdictions), and utilised case management software Clio. * As a paralegal at Pillion, I worked as part of the national HBA Group. HBA Legal is a specialist insurance law firm, and the administrative and legal tasks I would regularly undertake are as follows: * Review documents and prepare chronologies, liability schedules, and quantum schedules. * Draft and collate briefs to counsel and medico-legal specialists. * Draft letters and correspondence, including letters of instruction, advices, court and settlement documentation. * AAT applications. * Prepare, file, monitor, arrange uplift, and chase compliance of summonses and subpoenas. * Research cases and legislation. * Draft articles. * Arrange medico-legal appointments. * Organise service providers in relation to hearings, including interpreter services and counsel’s availability. * Utilise case management software Affinity.

During my placement I worked with lawyers, crown prosecutors, and witness assistance services. I assisted in court, researched legislation, case law, and secondary sources, summarised brief materials before completion of the charge certificate by the prosecutor, prepared chronologies, summarised evidence, and collated briefs.
