Working as part of a shift team to run tritium operations during the JET DTE2 campaign. Including feeding fuel to JET, recovering, removing impurities and separating of hydrogen isotopes.

Spending time in Radiotherapy, Nuclear Medicine and RRPPS, I learnt a lot about the day to day life of a Clinical Scientist, in addition to much of the physics behind how the equipment works.

I coached tennis juniors at my tennis club twice a week and often umpired their tournaments over the summer months. This enabled me to build on my communication skills, allowing me to help them understand how to progress and how to play the game. I could also improve my leadership skills in their training sessions and gain experience working with children.

I helped the University of Birmingham Medical Physics department create a Dose to Optical Density Calibration for GafChromic film. This involved using the school cyclotron to deliver different doses to the film and then scanning them at multiple time intervals afterwards. The optical density was then analysed in ImageJ software and plotted as a function of dose for each time interval since exposure.

I spent 3 weeks at St Bartholomew hospital in the departments of Nuclear Medicine, Radio pharmacy, Radiation Protection and Radiotherapy. During this time, I gained experience working in these areas and learnt what these jobs involve.

Using my physics degree and experience from working hands-on with radioactive sources as well as running tritium operations during the JET DTE2 campaign, to support the design of future fusion cycles and tritium research experiments.My current projects include:Working as part of the Fuel Cycle team to design a STEP Vacuum Pumping System. As a physics ambassador, I demonstrated to the parents of prospective students what fantastic facilities and opportunities the university has to offer. Communicating honest information about various aspects of student life including housing, health and safety, careers, studies and much more, was essential to helping parents feel confident in the department their children could spend their next few years.

In addition to the responsibilities described below, my new position includes investigation studies as well as work in method development and validation. I also work as part of a small team to Value Steam Map production processes and analyse future requirements and possible developments which can be made for continual improvement.

* Working in a reputable family jeweller, I have learnt how to: * Serve a variety of customers, * Create stock displays and improve merchandising, * Prepare information to be used on a website, * Complete minor watch and jewellery alterations.

As a Quality Control Intern at GE Healthcare, my key responsibilities involve the hands on analytical testing of radio-pharmaceutical products in a GMP environment to ensure that a product meets its specification and is safe for a patient. Product analysis included multiple variations of Technetium, Chromium and Strontium isotopes, using many different measurement laboratory techniques. Time management and attention to detail are critical in this role.I have observed the production process of multiple pharmaceuticals and so in addition to my testing and work experience in hospitals, I have had a broad overview of a radioactive products entire life cycle. The wider understanding I have gained of the requirements of these products with respect to external regulatory bodies from different countries around the world has also been very interesting.I have learnt and used multiple techniques for root cause analysis and also been involved in the initiation of Trackwise records to aid this process. * Working in the pub a few nights a week, I have had to: * Develop my people and communication skills, * Deal with difficult customers, * Organise orders and tables for efficiency at busy times.
