Taught mixed undergraduate/graduate seminar entitled "Disinformation USA: A Sociotechnical Reckoning on Where We Go from Here" during Spring Quarter 2022.

During my time as chair, the Student Civic Engagement committee focused on building a program to recruit and support student leaders in running Student Civic Engagement Projects. These projects focused on a broad range of issues, including civic technology, women in public service, citizenship tutoring for new Americans, veterans support, students of color in public service, voting technology, and civics education. I co-managed a $10,000 innovation fund to seed these student organizations, which succeeded in engaging more than 250 college students in civic and public service activities throughout Chicago in over 10,000 hours of service in the 2014-2015 academic year.

TechTeam, a Student Civic Engagement project of the University of Chicago Institute of Politics, seeks to support Chicago area government and community organizations in using digital tools to achieve their public service missions. Through a digital strategy and python-based data analysis curriculum, we convened multidisciplinary teams of students in computer scientist, humanities, social sciences, and other disciplines to learn and share skills. These teams put those skills to use by building websites for public service clients, including local nonprofits and Illinois State Representatives.

NHS Chicago is a nonprofit neighborhood revitalization organization committed to helping homeowners and strengthening neighborhoods throughout Chicago, South Suburban Cook County & Elgin. NHS' mission is to create opportunities for people to live in affordable homes, improve their lives, and strengthen their neighborhoods. Coordinated Illinois Hardest Hit Fund foreclosure prevention canvassing efforts to 250+ households. Designed and conducted market assessment and expansion feasibility study of housing conditions in selected Chicago neighborhoods using Zillow and Census data, presented strategic recs in a report to NHS directors Mapped foreclosures and vacancies by block and interpreted findings for NHS neighborhood leaders and community organizers.

Civic Hall Labs is a nonprofit that builds open source technology for public good and helps others do the same. Labs acts as an R&D partner for public interest institutions in New York City and beyond looking to further their missions with creative digital components. As the founding Director of Programs, I worked with our Executive Director and Board to launch and grow an organization that would fill the fundamental gap in ethical partner options for public interest institutions looking to pilot new digital components in their work. As Director of Programs, I led the conception, growth, and management of our program areas, overseeing the early stage growth phase from a team of 0 to 10 over the first two years from fundraising, programmatic, and management perspectives. During this time I was an active member of the NYC civic tech and tech policy communities, including speaking at major conferences domestically and internationally, and serving as a facilitator around digital equity for the New York City Council and the New York City Public Library.
