Researching new uses of haptics in Android. I did the haptics for Android lock screen widgets, the Back Gesture (2023), Circle to Select (2024) and several new 'dragging experiences' to be shipped later in 2024

Working with California Fire and Wildlife to create a web based mapping and resource anaylysis tool to help planners prioritize the most critical ares for treatment. California is planning on increasing their treatment areas by 4x in 2024 and this tool as a key piece of this strategy.

Created 20 haptics concepts for Android

Worked on the Upwelling project to create a Google Docs like product that does NOT require a data silo in the center. Based on the very promising CRDT technology. https://www.inkandswitch.com/upwelling/

Build and released the FOSS Eddystone BLE beacon standard. Shipped the Physical Web beacon scanning software to all Android phones (and Chrome mobile browsers). Worked on the "Future Android UX team" and created a series of concepts around Digital Wellbeing ("Flip to Shush" came from that work) a new way to edit text on Mobile (jenson.org/text), as well as work on advanced keyboards, a cloud connected KeyFob, and several home automation concepts. Over 35 patents filed. Active in the IoT community, speaking at several events and teaching classes at multiple universities.

Consulted to early stage startups (Color Genomics, and HighFive video conferencing)

Defined the creative and technical vision for large and small multi-disciplinary teams at frog. This involved defining user research; formulating design/business strategy, facilitating ideation, design, prototyping and documentation across a wide range of technology platforms (desktop, web, embedded and physical UI). Worked on projects for Disney, Skype, HP, Chase, and Intel.

Manager of Mobile UX group, responsible for managing a team of 21 designers/researchers that worked on multiple platform versions for: Google Mobile Maps, Google Mobile Search, Mobile Gmail, Google Image Search and Google SMS. Also lead team to explore new product concepts using CSS3/HTML5.

Jenson Design is a User Interface and Product Design consulting group. Design work specializes in mobile phone and consumer electronic products. Product concepts have ranged from MP3 players, Home Photo display terminals, and several mobile phone applications. Work has also included the creation of a complete phone UI design for a soon to be released mobile phone.

Oversaw the design, prototyping and testing of several mobile applications using the Cognima replication engine. Several of the applications are now being rolled out using UK mobile operators. The most well known is Shozu.

Lead and coordinated dozens of design and research projects relating to mobile internet services within Symbian, including the Quartz and Pearl reference platforms. Managed 19 people at Symbian to design, prototype, test, and specify future mobile wireless products. Oversaw a design team that has generated >20 patent applications, 10 academic/trade publications, and 5 external speaking engagements, including CHI2001.

Human interface manager within Apple Computer on projects such as QuickTime, FileShare, AppleMail, AppleScript, Publish & Subscribe and QuickDraw GX print architectures. Designer/programmer for Apple Newton. Started on original concept device which included concept prototyping as well a developement of Newton 1.0, 2.0 and eMate products.
