I am currently working towards my NVQ Level 2 Dispensing Assistant. This means I can be involved in the assembling and preparation of prescriptions. I will also be able to receive and check off pharmaceutical stock as well as ordering from the bigger wholesalers to full fill customers requirements.

As a medicine counter assistant my responsibilities include handling prescriptions, taking payments, interacting with customers, giving advice on OTC & GSL medicines making sure that customers get the best treatment for their symptoms. I can offer healthcare advice on minor ailments to stopping smoking. I deal with reps from different sales groups to help the pharmacy get the best deals and discounts on popular lines as well as ordering all stock for the pharmacy shop through wholesalers. I also run a blood pressure testing program as well as a weight management scheme.
