I have joined Summerset Group Holdings in the new role of Head of Health and Safety across all its construction and village operations in New Zealand and Australia. Having developed their new 3 year H&S strategy as a consultant, the opportunity to join Summerset to implement the strategy was an option to good to resist. I am excited to continue my journey in Health & Safety with the additional experiences of construction, and the operations of aged care residences.

Having initially provided consulting services to The Warehouse Group for 7 months, I then joined them as a permanent part of the team. Moved the group forward in HS&W with a 3 year strategy, backed by the Senior Executive Team and a hugely supportive Board. Big focus on reducing incidents associated with the organisations critical risks, along with the creation of an assurance audit programme - designed to provide transparency to the ELT and Board.

* Leading the Fonterra Global H&S Frameworks Team to ensure global standardisation of Policy & Standards, management of Critical & Process Safety Risk, and Delivery of a Fonterra's H&S Assurance programme. * Led re-development of global assurance process from compliance to value add * Led restructure and review of global critical risk governance panels to reduce resource requirements, streamline process and meet due diligence requirements for Fonterra * Led strategy review for global risk reviews and how Fonterra uses risk bowties, and presented Leadership Team and Board whitepapers and reports * Reorganized global frameworks team, and reset direction, focus and plan for support to BU’s * Met all performance objectives and managed a budget of $3.9m

* Key Achievements & Results – National Safety Manager * Reduced cost of ACC to $500,000 (including costs of claims) from a fully funded ACC premium of $1.9 Million * Co-developed Safety the GF Way – Goodman Fielder's safety management training * Coached 450 of operational leaders in behavioural and cultural change techniques * Improved LTIFR from 13 per 100 people to 4 per 100 people in 12 months * Integrated H&S into all line management functions and roles, established Key Result Areas (KRA’s) for line management personal performance plans

* Development and sign-off five year H&S strategy * Delivered governance framework and HSMS framework for Trans-Tasman business of 8,000 employees * Managed workers compensation in multi-jurisdictional environment * Implementation of a safety leadership executive coaching programme to business unit leaders * Reduced Workers Compensation costs by 30% and liability of hand-back claims by $1.1m * Successful management of $1.2m operating budget

I have recently been appointed to Te Komiti Marupainga (Board - H&S Committee) of te Wānanga o Aotearoa as an Independent Advisor. My role is to support and advise the Directors on their H&S obligations and that of the te Wānanga. This appointment is concurrent to my role with The Warehouse Group..
