Managing, implementing and maintaining workforce of the Polytechnic’s ICT functions, including its computer hardware, software and network infrastructure, telephone system and voice mail system. Working closely with heads or designated members of the senior management team. Take a lead in ICT specialist area. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ● Manage the polytechnics network infrastructure, servers and workstations. ● Manage the polytechnics ICT staff, including training and appraisal. ● Provide advice on networking, purchasing and any relevant contractors. ● Develop, implement and monitor the polytechnics practices for data protection, internet use, e-mail, security and ICT resource management. ● Develop hardware, software and the network solutions throughout the polytechnic, to meet curriculum and administrative needs. ● Ensure that the network is operational during access hours and appropriate back-up protocols are implemented. ● Responsible for regular maintenance program and resolving failures in hardware and software and ensuring appropriate “housekeeping” tasks are implemented. ● Ensure the preparation and maintenance of documentation, manuals and user notes. ● Liaise with the rector on ICT development and support and represent the polytechnic at meetings. ● Provide support and guidance for staff in the use of ICT and provide feedback to pupils using specialist skils/training/experience. ● Train staff on a wide range of applications used in polytechnic. ● Produce audits and reports on ICT use and costs, demonstrate best value in provision of products and services. ● Monitor the use of hardware and software and ensure all software is licensed.
