My field of experience relies on the analysis of molecular data, and the integration of different kinds of resources and information relevant to biology. In this regard, I am interested on the complex molecular networks through which genes, proteins or metabolites communicate within a system, as well as their relationship with environment factors, physiological state, or genetics to answer fundamental questions. Knowing the whole DNA sequence of an organism’s genome, as well as its RNA expression, or proteins, provides an exciting tool for understanding a living organism from a systems level. In other words, my area of interest is focused on the ability to efficiently summarize large data collection from a variety of biologically information perspective; among them, prediction of genes and proteins function, cross-talk among biological processes within and between tissues, which requires interdisciplinary training and research that spans biology and the quantitative sciences.

My field of teaching relies on subjects associated with Novel Foods and the latest Processes in the Food Processing Industry, as well as nutrigenomics and nutrigenetics. In particular, the subjects are related to the Nutrition and Health Master within the framework of EES of Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, and attempt to grasp the polychromous and complex world of human nutrition through an integrated approach.
