Spearheaded GlobeMed’s annual 2015 informational and interactive social justice fair by collaborating with over 11 organizations as well as organizing advertising for the event. Crafted and led presentations and interactive role-play activities to introduce high school and college students to public health. Collaborated with environmental UNC organizations to create a multifaceted environmental petition for presentation to North Carolina state legislature. Collaborated with other GlobeMed committees to reach $11,000 yearly fundraising goal for Ugandan development projects.

This project analyzed trends of sea level rise for NC coastal region of Pasquotank County and Elizabeth City using ArcGIS software. Researched the National Flood Insurance Program, Community Rating System (flood premium discount program), NOAA sea level rise projections, and other sea level rise initiatives emerging within U.S. coastal regions. Researched similar case studies to recommend cost-effective sea level rise mitigation strategies to regional board of commissioners.

Independent research: wrote literature review outlining the history of exclusion of undocumented immigrants from US healthcare and the relevance of this history for today’s discourse on Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act. Edited and administered in-person surveys to subsidized housing community in Chapel Hill to identify how to best allocate affordable housing project funds. Conducted oral history interviews with mental health practitioners and UNC students; summarized and coded interviews.

Worked on fundraising team, managing members via Google Drive for the largest fundraising event in Book Harvest’s history (Battle of the Bands with McKinney agency), raising $170,000 for the organization. Standardized and greatly expedited donation recording and reporting methods; created 2014 financial donor report. Analyzed trends in donation data highlighting pattern shifts in donations for events and individual behavior. Researched and wrote grant opportunities with the Wish You Well Foundation and the Ben & Jerry’s Grassroots Foundation

Created strategies to increase student involvement with a Chapel Hill minority community being displaced by gentrification. Researched public records databases, such as police incident files and UNC Office of Community Involvement mandatory meeting records, to identify potentially disruptive student houses within the community. Initiated outreach to disruptive student houses in attempt to promote community involvement. Re-developed community newsletter using a marketing-based approach to easily relay information.

Ran a non-profit after-school program of 50+ children in Kathmandu. Focused on increasing English literacy by engaging students through reading aloud and writing assignments. Used teaching strategies such as contextualized learning to emphasize a student-centered classroom.

Assisted account managers in research for the Global Knowledge Sales Optimization team. Responsible for gathering data, assessing prospects, and utilizing web sources for business and software training needs.
