I am responsible for the scientific training of the entire Medical Affairs (MA) organization, by working closely with leadership for the field medical team (medical science liaisons, clinical practice liaisons, managed care liaisons), health economics and outcomes research (HEOR), and medical communications to develop onboarding and training curriculum for Medical Affairs staff. Additionally, I work to ensure strategic collaboration with several cross functional partners to understand training gaps within the organization, to better create and design innovative training solutions are fun, interactive, and engaging, while employing several adult learning strategies that will improve learning retention, foster positive learning habits, and enhance the overall training experience. Lastly, I am responsible for measuring training effectiveness, which includes ongoing needs assessments and routinely updating training materials to drive the continual enhancement of scientific information re: Neurocrine's marketed and pipeline products, relevant disease states, and competitor data.

Develop and maintain the 8-week new hire training curriculum for neurology and ophthalmology, which includes creating the training calendar for the new-hire, being their point of contact during the onboarding process, arranging the individual training session, and coordinating training logistics. Maintain scientific acumen of neurology/ophthalmology MSL teams through 2 annual certifications; one certification is in conjunction with a KOL meeting, and the other is completed via webex or 1:1 at a medical meeting or scientific congress. The MSL is assessed on their mastery of the scientific content and feedback and coaching is provided to assist the MSL in improving areas that need growth.Per request, provide training to MSL teams and MNK global medical affairs to increase foundational knowledge of immunology, autoimmunity, and/or scientific data related to the use of the product within a specific TA. Also provide TA-specific training to cross-functional commercial partners (i.e. sales training, marketing, external vendors, etc.) within an established TA or when launching into a new TA.Administrator of medical affairs scientific portal, which houses clinical data for all therapeutic areas and products supported by ARD/Mallinckrodt medical affairs, but primarily serves as a tool for the MSLs; the medical affairs portal is the place to access a variety of important information critical to being effective in the role of MSL including 8 week-onboarding curriculum, internal/external site links, medical/promotional approved slide decks, SOPs, key publications, abstracts, and posters, and other administrative information . Responsible for updating the medical affairs scientific portal platform making it more user friendly, streamlined, and accessible from mobile devices (i.e. tablet or smartphone); customized each therapeutic area team page with the data needed to make the MSL more effective in their role, and provided technical support to all users.

Develop relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) within the area of Multiple Sclerosis, Infantile Spasms, and other neuronal inflammatory disorders Identify KOLs within the neurology therapeutic area including current and future therapeutic leaders; development of professional peer-to-peer relationships with KOLs and other prominent healthcare providers as they relate to both Questcor’s marketed and development pipeline productsDevelop and support clinical research activities Facilitating, building internal support, and monitoring of investigator-initiated research concepts, including supporting potential investigator’s concept development and submissions; reviewing study design to match Questcor’s internal development plan; and contracting and overseeing milestone requirements to assure progression of investigator- or company-sponsored protocols. Additionally, facilitate relationships with KOLs for potential contract or company-sponsored pre-clinical and clinical studies. Lastly, identify and communicate key clinical and research issues from KOLs to appropriate departments.Provide scientific information and educational support Research and identification of medical community training and educational needs within relevant therapeutic areas; participation in medical education for healthcare professionals through on-site presentations at healthcare facilities, investigator meetings, national professional societies and conferences, advisory boards, or local and regional healthcare meetings.
