Successfully led a profitable department, netting $6 in gross margin for every $1 of inventory brought in. Developed my team to succeed at their jobs, helping multiple individuals move up along the way.

After a lengthy transfer process, I eventually found myself in the Electrical department. Having a strong background in operations I was able to handle some of the special order aspects that we occasionally face on the sales floor. I also came into the department fully trained as I was receiving training while I was back in my previous department during the slower hours. Within my first month I received praise from an executive whom was acting as a secret shopper. What I have found to work best is to listen to what the customer is looking for. The customer does not know it right away, but they know exactly what it is that they need. That is what I listen for. Once I hear the key words, I get the item/items that they need and briefly explain what it is that they need to do to get it working properly. At this point, I verify that they have all the resources that they need to complete the task. and allow them to leave feeling confident that they will complete the task successfully.

I started out with The Home Depot as a night time receiving associate. It was my basic duties to unload the trucks that came in and to verify the contents of the pallets. I also verified the accuracy of store-to-store transfers and getting them ready for shipment.After some time progressed I started taking care of the special orders. I worked with the various department heads to understand what I was looking for and how to read the order properly. I also opened up a communications pipeline between the receiving department and the specialty coordinators office which accelerated the process of sending out the incorrect items and getting the correct items.Going into my third year in the position I started handling the out for repair orders. Throughout several weeks I was working with the service desk to learn how to process these orders from start to finish. Once I felt comfortable with the process I was able to have the whole process done in about an hour (depending on how many units were going out and how many were coming in.)

Johnny's Pizza and Subs is a late night food delivery business specializing in pizzas, wings, and toasted subs. I started working with Johnny Ameer when he was working in a small room at a gas station, the business quickly grew once delivery became an option. The late hours were very popular with the students of the two local colleges. As the business grew I started helping with more of the operations of the business, including placing and picking up the orders for our inventory and training the new employees. As the most experienced delivery driver, I was tasked with routing the other drivers on their routes, assisting them during peak business.
