Provide oversight for the policies and enterprise systems for the UR Libraries, including the Miner Medical Libraries (UR Medical Center), the River Campus Libraries (RCL), the Sibley Music Library (Eastman School of Music) and the Charlotte Whitney Allen Library (Memorial Art Gallery). Hold administrative responsibility for all library divisions, which includes oversight of approximately $20M in operations, collections, grant and gift funding, and stewardship of $18.9M in endowments. Principal fundraiser for the Libraries as the University launches its next capital campaign. Serve as the representative for the UR Libraries with the Association of Research Libraries (ARL) with which the libraries are extremely active.

Provide strategic leadership and a vision for organizational development, assessment, and planning in alignment with the libraries strategic plan. In this role, I am responsible for designing processes, tools, and initiatives that foster a holistic understanding of the capacity, functions, and impact of RCL’s spaces, services, program, and workforce, as well as identifying, forecasting, and developing future opportunities and growth in those same areas. By monitoring the effort associated with the strategic plan, overseeing communications about RCL’s work towards the strategic plan, and collaborating with RCL’s Strategic Leadership Team, I manage and optimize the change effort associated with the strategic plan’s implementation.

Responsible for the development and implementation of an organization performance strategy that intersects with RCL’s strategies to engage, enhance, enrich, extend, and enable. These strategies rely on incorporating user research, evaluation, assessment and improvement into all programs and services.

Manage, lead, and collaborate on projects focused on gathering, analyzing, and putting into use high-quality, actionable data to determine the value of library services, programs, learning spaces, and resources to inform RCL planning and decision-making.

Facilitate the delivery of asynchronous and synchronous course content for an online section of IST 613, Library Planning, Marketing, and Assessment. This project-based course covers user-focused planning, marketing, and assessment of activities that support core functions libraries, such as collection development, systems, and public services.

As the User Experience librarian, I studied users; the context in which they use library tools, spaces and services; and, their interaction with these tools and resources. This helped the University Libraries make user-research based decisions and changes. I used qualitative and ethnographic assessment methods to measure the usability, desirability, adoptability, and value of library programs and services. As the Assessment librarian I planned, designed, developed, and implemented initiatives to measure the effectiveness of the University Libraries in meeting its strategic goals, while promoting the integration of assessment into all phases of planning and services.
