Signal Processing and Machine Learning for Comms, Radars, Sensors, and Biomedical Applications.

Startup develops prosthetic limbs using surface and epimysial EMG. I lead all the concepts relating to machine learning, signal processing, crosstalk removal, noise removal, AC removal, pattern recognition, feature engineering, confidence measure, and denoising of EMG signal. Developed an end-to-end algorithm from raw EMG signal to output with max off-line accuracy reaching 100%. About dozen patentable ideas and techniques were generated including novel features that are robust to a variety of uncertainties.

Radar Signal Processing including Statistical Sea and Bird Clutter Modeling, Detection Chain Modeling, Sparsity Techniques, Time-Frequency Transforms, Inverse Synthetic Aperture Radar (ISAR), Track-before-Detect Techniques (TkBD), Statistical Detection, Maritime Detection and Discrimination, and Advanced Signal Processing. Public Information:* Wrote more than a dozen combined reports (internal) and papers (journal, conference) on maritime detection, ISAR and sea clutter modeling. * Obtained more than $3 million from ONR proposals for cutting edge 6.1 and 6.2 research for maritime detection techniques and next generation detection techniques enhanced by numerical electromagnetic clutter models. * Developed new sea clutter models and analysis tools through extreme value theory statistics and cyclostationarity processes. * Developed and designed comprehensive end-to-end Monte-Carlo maritime detection simulator which incorporates complex sea clutter and target models, new detection techniques based on sparsity, RF, antenna, beam-split and various other system losses, and provides a stable output to the tracker. * Study and comparison of several TkBD techniques and invention of a multi-scale Hough transform TkBD technique. * Invention of a new coherent detection methods incorporating advanced signal processing which does not use adjacent cell co-variance estimates. * Developed level crossing rate concepts for the purpose of sea clutter spike occurrence rate and verification of the results based on experimental data. * Developed novel algorithms for for sea clutter/spray artifact removal techniques from ISAR. * Performance analysis and algorithm development for measured bi-statistic maritime detection techniques.* Developed new methods and algorithms for micro-Doppler signature of birds and bird clutter statistics and flock models for radar detection and discrimination algorithms.
