The Group supports nuclear medicine and PET departments, Nuclear Cardiology, Oncology, wards, theatres and laboratories that use radionuclides.The group also manages the provision of radiation protection support to all departments using radioisotopes and the radionuclide therapy service using the full range of available therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals in the UK. We support many clinical trials, including novel PET and SPECT tracers and new therapeutic techniques. Some of my clinical and scientific duties included calibration, radiation safety, quality control, measurements, and checks of radioisotope equipment; implementation of quality assurance protocols on new equipment; participation in diagnostic imaging, in vivo and in vitro radioisotope investigations; assisting with risk assessments; participation in ordering, record keeping, and disposal of radioisotopes, among others.

Some of the activities I did as part of the Radiopharmacy Team were the aseptic manufacture of radiopharmaceuticals, the packing and labelling of the products, the radiopharmaceutical quality control, the radiopharmacy environmental monitoring (microbial and radiation), the ordering and receipt of goods, the stock control, the production session preparation, and maintaining the pharmaceutical cleanroom environment, among others.

I was responsible for all the equipment's administrative procedures and quality control. I adapted and implemented new procedures and activities needed to control the radioactive sources and the record-keeping of all the activities in the area. I got real clinical experience with pediatric patients.
