I have recently joined the Citizens Advice Energy Policy team as a Policy Research Assistant. My role is to support the team's work on advocating for consumers' interests in the energy market, engaging with energy suppliers and making sure the transition to net zero energy works for everyone.

I am researching and preparing content for two websites in partnership with openDemocracy and the ERC-funded WorkFree project at the University of Bath. The first website is called ‘UBI Curious’ which is a rigorous information resource pitched at those who are curious, yet sceptical about a UBI. The second articulates the aims and findings of the University of Bath’s WorkFree project, which is exploring the potential of both non-violent community mobilisation and unconditional cash transfers as policy responses to indecent or exploitative work in Hyderabad, India. I advised CIC Board members in developing strategic objectives, designed our research activities, planned and delivered our communications. I managed stakeholder relationships and communications with our network of over 700 people and organisations. I organised a series of online public events on the future of the North which involved three Northern metro mayors and over 500 Northern residents on the future of the North after Covid-19.

I led a project amplify the voices of people across the North of England in the debate about what comes next after Covid-19. Through surveys and online events we heard from over 500 people from diverse backgrounds across the North. After analysing this data, we identified seven 'People's Principles for the Recovery from Covid-19 that should inform how politicians, policymakers and other stakeholders move forward from the pandemic. These were: 1. A Fairer and more equal country. 2. Taking care of our environment. 3. More time with loved ones. 4. More investment for local communities and businesses. 5. More power and a bigger say for local communities. 6. Keeping our communities safe from the virus. 7. Keeping our community spirit. Show less

As a supply teacher with Celsian Education, I taught over 300 pupils in 10 different schools across Leeds, adapting to the needs of different pupils and schools. This built on my experience in education and developed transferable skills such as organisation, leadership, public speaking and organisation.

As part of the Teach First programme, I taught in a primary school in Grimsby. I achieved my teacher qualification at 'outstanding' and completed my NQT year at 'good with outstanding elements'. I thoroughly enjoyed building effective relationships with parents and colleagues; planning and delivering schemes of learning; and guiding my pupils to make significant progress in core and non-core subjects. I also led my own professional development by starting a podcast with a fellow Teach First participant, called 'The Classroom Chat'. In 2015, I was elected as President of the Edinburgh University Students' Association on a platform of putting the university to invest in and improve support for students' opportunities and mental wellbeing. This was a full-time, paid Sabbatical post. During my Sabbatical year, my team and I managed to secure many changes which improved students' lives and opportunities, including a £2 billion increase in bursaries for low-income students; a £10k fund to help low income students participate in extra-curricular activities; an increase in affordable accommodation; £140k increase in funding for counselling services and a multi-million pound investment in student facilities and spaces. We also secured change that will contribute towards the fight against climate change, by working with the University to divest millions of pounds away from fossil fuel companies and towards investments in the green economy. The Buchanan Institute, Edinburgh's first student-led think tank, was founded to provide students with a platform to influence the world around them. Rather than just protesting against things we don't like, the Buchanan Institute provides the platform for students to research, write and advocate for their own alternatives for a better society. It is part of a movement of student-led think tanks that have been founded across the U.K., and even the world, over the last decade. Since its founding in 2014, the Buchanan Institute has had its research endorsed by politicians in the Scottish and U.K. parliament and has hosted a range of high quality speakers at its events. * I was a research and events intern with the Green Economics Institute. During this time I wrote and presented a paper, 'why we need public investment for the green economy'. This called for the U.K. to develop a public investment bank * just like the ones that exist in Germany and the Nordic countries * to invest in our necessary transition towards a green economy.
