Managed the investment accounts of individuals on behalf of their financial advisors throughout the US. Also provided value-added services for these advisors, including portfolio reviews, assistance with client meetings, weekly market updates, quarterly "State of the Market" presentations, and other services. Managed a limited number of direct client accounts. Equities were managed via a direct stock investment portfolio, a dividend-centered stock portfolio, an equities ETF portfolio, and a fixed-income ETF portfolio, with clients participating in each of these based upon their risk tolerance and/or personal preference.

Global long/short equity hedge fund. Generated gross returns of over 36%, with the MSCI Global Index down just over 3% during the life of the fund. Required deep analysis of financial statements and related public filings, presentations, and conference calls, along with analysis of competitors and macroeconomic factors likely to influence the target companies. Returns also benefited materially from opportunistic trading, particularly during periods of high market volatility.

Deep value/distressed hedge fund, with investments made throughout the capital structures of target companies. Required thorough, long-term research into every investment prior to opening positions and continuous monitoring for the duration of the investments. AUM grew from $150M to $950M, driven by high risk-adjusted returns and generally conservative investment positioning. Responsible for primary analysis on investments that generated a cumulative gross return of approximately $90 million, materially benefiting total fund returns.

Private commercial real estate investment partnership that started out by redeveloping distressed office properties purchased from the Resolution Trust Company. Assisted with the selection and oversight of an in-house management, leasing, and maintenance team, along with the analysis of financial statements and the properties themselves to determine how to most effectively strip out costs and drive up property values. Responsible for the primary quantitative analysis of target properties in a $15 million 1031 exchange which transitioned the portfolio from a highly concentrated, Houston Class B Office portfolio to a geographically diversified portfolio of office, industrial, residential, and retail properties, while eliminating cross-collateralization, increasing cash flow, and materially decreasing the risk of catastrophic loss in an economic downturn.

Regional accounting firm. Responsible for income tax preparation, audit support, and on-site assistance with assessments of viability of construction projects for the US Army and Navy on military bases throughout the US.

Oversight of real estate operations, including leasing, tenant relations, and property maintenance and improvement. Material involvement in strategic and investment analysis, financing decisions, etc. in a highly fluid environment requiring travel out of state 5 days/week. GPL owns and self-manages 4 office buildings, a retail center, and 7 residential condominiums in Houston, TX and an industrial property in nearby Spring, TX.
