Joel co-founded and led Ozmosis, Inc. which built the first "trusted" online physician community and provided an enterprise collaboration platform, OzmosisESP, to improve workflows around clinical content at nationally recognized healthcare systems, acute care hospitals, and healthcare organizations.

Joel co-founded and ran operations and product development at Medical Funding Services (MFS). Under his leadership, MFS developed a payment gateway and claims management system to enable large health plans and hospital systems to manage and track payments and claims data from multiple payors and banking partners through a single web based solution. Joel recruited and managed an operations and technology team of 25 full-time employees, designed a secure claims transaction process, led all product development and managed claims payment and client implementation operations.

Sourced new deals, performed due diligence, analyzed investment opportunities, built financial models, supported portfolio firms, and assisted with fundraising activities.

Expanded services capacity by building new consulting team and developing innovative wireless solutions for IBM.Grew sales pipeline for wireless projects by building key industry relationships, implementing comprehensive marketing plan, and leading client meetings and presentations.Also responsible for managing client relationships, staffing projects, leading client engagements, framing analytical direction, and ensuring project success and overall customer satisfaction on e-business infrastructure projects.

Led multiple systems development and business strategy engagements for the U.S. Government. Designed, developed, and managed complex business intelligence and data visualization solutions. Worked in an internal position to re-define product and business development strategies for the AMS Federal Defense & Intelligence Group. Worked directly with CTO, Chief e-Commerce Officer, and senior AMS management to develop an e-business vision and formed a cross divisional team to deploy Siebel as a business development management system within AMS.
