* My position with Network Rail was to complete inspections of rail switches (053) and crossings (054) on the Greater Glasgow and Western Highlands lines. Key responsibilities include: * Manage on site operations and make critical and decisive decisions under strict time constraints * Coordinate welding operations involving Aluminothermic welding, FCAW and MMA electrical welding * Identify and maintain of all grades of steel and components on switches, crossings and rail lines * Determine the extent of repairs and size of team required for each project * Fulfill all required fault finding and pre-job inspections * Report to management every morning to ensure the line is safe for use by trains * Conduct necessary safety inspections at the completion of each project * Complete the required job sheet for each project * Discuss the job with the team and ensure the correct equipment is in place * Go over safety briefings, identify risks and analyse diagrams * I have over the course of my Railway career attained every Welding & Track competence.
