In my role at RBC GAM I designed, developed and implemented the data and governance infrastructure for RBC's asset management business globally. Key Accountabilities: -Establish a Data Governance Office and Data Governance Council composed of business leaders throughout the platform-Develop RBC GAM’s information model and business glossary-Educate and evangelize on Data Management principles and best practices-Oversee the evaluation of all data related projects and ensure their adherence to appropriate data standards-Build a client centric data management operations function, serving investment, service, marketing and sales teams globally.

In the Head of Risk role, I was responsible for developing a comprehensive enterprise risk management structure for RBC’s U.S. asset management business. With an emphasis on the benefits of a risk aware organization, I sought to better inform our firm strategic planning efforts, resource management and operational design. My team and I worked to advance the organization’s thinking and toolset for expected return analysis, asset allocation, within a flexible econometric framework. Recent research included application of hierarchical clustering techniques to determine market state, and use of non-normal copulas in modeling asset joint return distributions.

For the approximately four years ending in 2012, I focused on creating a comprehensive investment risk management platform, including several proprietary multi factor risk models, investment performance attribution tools and commensurate reporting and data visualizations. This included all aspects of system development ranging from database structure design to hold over 1m new data points per day, to the ability to access economic/market surveillance information, portfolio exposure and risk reporting via handheld devices and tablets. My group also took ownership of security valuations, creating an independent and transparent valuation best practice for the firm.
