While at high school and later college summers I interned at Hayden Custance providing support to the staff engineers. This included assessing materials costs of technical drawings; programming light software applications using visual basic inside Microsoft Excel and assembling small mechanical sub assemblies for use in larger fabrication projects.

I led the full Engineering team at Convr as we delivered new features at scale to our customers and worked to build in the next generation of machine learning models and platform scalability. The Convr platform was used by our clients to unlock new automation use cases and insights. I worked with the greater leadership team and across departments to help define, sell and present company strategic direction and map that down into requirements for engineering. I was also very hands on working with the engineering team as we evolved the core infrastructure that powered Convr on AWS. Some highlights of my tenure included: We executed transformations to break up monolithic services into microservices and event-based architectures than run on Kubernetes and other cloud-native AWS services. We migrated and redesigned our whole internal development environment from an on-premises vmware based solution to a secure cloud-native environment using infrastructure-as-code. I'm the manager of a great group of engineers - with ownership over the day-to-day operation, future architecture and customer relations with those using the d3Intake document ingestion pipeline. We use machine learning to identify, classify, extract and structure data from unstructured documents.

I managed the machine data intake pipeline team. We were responsible for over 50 microservices processing thousands of iot machine data files a day through a scalable pipeline. We were building new and evolving services written other teams or external contractors written in Java, Javascript, Python, Scala and Clojure. I had to work across team boundaries to architect, design and then deliver projects with my team members - all while working through large updates to security infrastructure as the result of internal initiatives. Im proud of the team I worked with - we served many internal and external customers, balancing roadmaps from multiple parts of the organization. We did all this while evolving our agile practices - increasing reliability and burndowns. We did well because we were a team of talented people who were committed to helping each other.
