My time at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario has been spent working on their Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. In this NICU I have been a strong advocate and cared for infants while they are admitted with any; respiratory/ventilatory support needs, cardiac, neurological, genetic, or gastrointestinal diagnoses requiring critical care.

My time at The Ottawa Hospital (TOH) General Campus was spent working on their Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. This unit specialized in working with micro-premature infants down to a gestational age of 22 weeks and was also attached to the city's high risk obstetrical center. During my time at TOH I worked with infants as premature as 26 weeks. Managing airways, IV and central line therapy as well as following developmentally sensitive guidelines to appropriately take care of these infants.

During my time at PRHC I worked on an acute stroke and integrated rehabilitation unit. Our hospital was the district stroke center for our region and received patients from a wide geographic area. My role as an RN was managing anywhere from 4-8 patients throughout their admission into our unit to discharge home. Starting at admission they would be thoroughly assessed as per our stroke protocol and managed according to the severity of their condition. As the patient moved away from the acute phase of stroke we initiated an intense rehabilitation program tailored to each patient that had the aim of helping our patients relearn how to use their affected side or learn how to work with any deficits they may have gotten. Once the patient successfully completed their rehabilitation; discharge home would be explored and support systems would be put in place for our patients as appropriate.
