Interned with R&D Department. Worked on LabVIEW code to read, record, and reload settings to and from vacuum sensor controllers. Designed and constructed a box for testing of a specific circuit board. In charge of this project from conception to design through prototyping. Mechanical Design was completed with AutoDesk Inventor. Responsible for soldering of surface-mount printed circuit boards.

Stolle Machinery manufactures machines that print labels on aluminum cans. My senior project team developed a component that automated pressure adjustment on printing plates used within their can printing machines. As the Technical Coordinator, I was responsible for completing 3D models of the system in SolidWorks, ensuring that the off-the-shelf components and custom components would fit and work together. I also was heavily involved in manufacturing the prototype component.

Interned with Diagnostics and Computing department of General Atomics DIII-D division. Responsibilities included basic mechanical and electrical engineering, including fabrication and testing of magnetic field sensing coils for a research fusion reactor and design and fabrication of a radiation shielding box for a sensitive sensor package. SolidWorks was used to develop 3D model of radiation shielding box. Research report prepared and submitted to document work completed.

Designed and implemented various hardware and electrical systems for large-format concrete 3D printers for military applications, for fabrication of emergency housing, and other concrete structures. Developed and implemented hydraulic systems for raising and collapsing 1000+ lb large-format concrete 3D printer. Developed new wet material delivery system for large-format concrete 3D printer. Assisted in generating documentation for operation and maintenance of concrete 3D printers.

Tested next-generation metal 3D printing machines to determine optimal settings and certify machines for production. Ideated and drove a project to automate QC of metal 3D printed parts using a structured light 3D scanner. Interfaced with vendor to rent a test unit to validate it for measurement specs. Time to measure parts was 7-10X shorter than current processes, depending on the part being measured. Developed and tested new processes for batch cleaning of 3D printed parts. Developed, fabricated, and put into production automated machinery that uses traditional machining methods to post-process 3D printed parts. Machine can process 8,000 parts per 8 hour shift

As the sole member of the Process Improvements department, worked with managers and production personnel to develop new processes to improve the quality, speed, and efficiency with which parts are manufactured. Applied principles of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Programming, Machining, and Hands-On Fabrication to engineer, design, and fabricate innovative machines, tools, and fixtures to increase productivity of the company.
