The IUCN Peatland Programme exists to promote peatland restoration in the UK and advocates the multiple benefits of peatlands through partnerships, strong science, sound policy and effective practice.We deliver:- A focus for peatland research and management- Credible, clear and concise peatland messages for decision makers- Facilitation of knowledge exchange and consensus between practitioners, scientists and decision makers- Promotion of the benefits and values of peatland ecosystem services.As Programme Manager, I'm responsible for the day-to-day administration of the programme, managing multiple projects and engaging with partner organisations to develop our work plan. I support our Director in managing the programme's budget and meeting our strategic objectives. I line manage our Programme Officer and Communications Lead, working closely with the wider team to deliver our annual conference and other events. I supported a wide range of teaching and research at HE level in the fields of ecology and animal behaviour, specialising in entomology. I managed a suite of laboratories, including terrestrial and freshwater reference collections, and was part of a team providing field equipment loans and maintenance. I facilitated practical teaching sessions, field work and laboratory-based research, helping students develop identification skills for challenging groups of organisms. I also provided work-based placements for undergraduates, supporting them in developing skills in entomology, and delivering community outreach on-campus and in local schools.

Supporting ecology teaching and research, with emphasis on behavioural ecology and entomology.

I supported CREST by teaching invertebrate sampling and identification, and during their Canopy Experience days in which members of the public practiced the techniques used in the scientific study of canopy ecology.

Practical countryside management of the National Trust's Lanhydrock Estate, including supervision of volunteers and promotion of the Trust's aims.

Providing personal and palliative care for elderly and disabled residents of a residential home.
